Dean Duff was born on March 7, 1925 in Brookings, SD the son of John and Anne (Leberknight) Duff. He died on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Avera-McKennan Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 81.
Dean attended grade school in Rapid City, SD and was a graduate of the Brookings High School in 1943. Dean then drove truck for Johnston Fuel Liners in Newcastle, WY. He also worked on the farm with his father until his marriage to Lola Broadbent on March 30, 1949, in White, SD. After their marriage they farmed on Dean's grandfathers farm until purchasing their own farm in 1960. Dean retired from farming in 2000 and moved into Brookings, SD.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and caring for his cattle. His dog "Queeter" was a bright spot in his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Dean is survived by his wife Lola of Brookings, SD; one daughter Deb Duff and her husband Merriweather Eidsness of Brookings, SD; two sisters Lois Rossum of Rapid City, SD, June Holliday (Bob) of Bella Vista, AK; one sister-in-law Clara Duff of Newcastle, WY and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Vern and two sisters Ruth and Mary.
