Funeral Services for Harry Friedrich , 91, will be 11:00am, Monday, December 14, 2009, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be from 2pm until 4pm, Sunday at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.

Harry Friedrich was born on May 24, 1918, on the original family homestead in Brookings County, the son of Henry and Marie (Bruning) Friedrich. He received his education in Aurora, SD and was a graduate of the Aurora High School in 1937. After receiving his education he farmed with his father near Aurora. Harry was united in marriage to Irene Gussie Radetzki on August 20, 1939, in Aurora. He continued to farm on the family homestead the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, and served on several church offices including Trustee and Church Elder. Harry also served on several farm organizations including the Farmers Co-Op, officer in the Farmers Union and township supervisor for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his friends and especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harry is survived by his wife Gusie of 70 years of marriage; his children Harriet Freddie Boyd of Flandreau, SD, Peggy (Charles) McCann of Lincoln, NE, Chuck (Linda) Friedrich of Aurora, SD; five grandchildren Tami (Rob) Meurer, Marse (Ken) Carpenter, Marissa (Jason) Kivett, Dawn (Joe) Hardin, Cory (Michelle) Friedrich; seven great grandchildren Kelsey Mauch, Hailey Meurer, Connor Carpenter, Cayley Carpenter, Trent Kivett, Emma Hardin, Lincoln Hardin; and one sister Elaine (Jim) Waples of Aurora, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Marjorie. Harry died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
