Ronald and Judy Ziegler
Volga, South Dakota

Ronald John Ziegler was born on February 17, 1938 in Volga, South Dakota
the son of Richard J. and Mamie (Waage) Ziegler.
Judy Lea (Jensen) Ziegler was born on June 14, 1942 in Flandreau, South
Dakota the daughter of Silas and Mabel (Severson) Jensen. They died on
Sunday, October 19, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident. Ronald
was age 65, and Judy was age 61.
Ronald attended Cottonwood #78 grade school and graduated from Volga High
School in 1956. He was a graduate of SDSU in 1960. Judy attended grade
school at Midway Country School # 32 and graduated from Colman High School
in 1960.
Ron and Judy were married on June 18, 1960 in Colman, SD. They established
their farm and beautiful home near Volga. Judy was employed at JoAnn
Fabrics and was presently employed at 3M Co. in Brookings.
They were active members of First Lutheran Church in Volga. Their joys in
life were their children and grandchildren and supporting all of their
activities. They both were avid SDSU Jackrabbit fans. Judy was a leader
for the Sunshine Girls 4-H Club, and enjoyed attending the South Dakota
State Fair and bird watching. Ron was a dedicated farmer and was excited to
share the family farm with his children. He also took pride in his John
Deere Tractors.
Ron and Judy are survived by their three children Becky Renee Fisher
(Chuck) of Chanhassen, MN, Pamela Kay Thompson (Gregg) of Osakis, MN,
Daniel John Ziegler (Kay) of Volga, SD; six grandchildren, Christopher
Fisher (20), Mitchell (8), Tyler (6) and Daniel (4) Thompson, and Zackary
(5) and Nikole (3) Ziegler. Ron is also survived by three brothers and six
sisters; Aline Luckow (Everett) of Sac City, IA, Evelyn Scharn (Ed) of
Lytton, IA, Clarice Wells of Lennox, SD, Richard L. Ziegler (Carol) of
Mitchell, SD, Gerald Ziegler (Marilyn) of Franklin, TN, VerDell Wiles
(Robert) of Fairfax, VA, Arlys Eilts (Leonard) of St. Paul, MN, Beverly
Wosje (Bruce) and Larry Ziegler all of Volga, SD; and many nieces, nephews
and cousins. Judy is also survived by one sister Marla Leitzke (Arthur) of
Colman, SD, and two nieces Tamara and Stacy Leitzke.
They were both preceded in death by their parents.
