Life Legacy
Elvin L. Ness, 82, of Brookings, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Brookview Manor. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, South Dakota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at First Lutheran Church.
Elvin L. Ness was born on October 20, 1928, in Brookings County, South Dakota, the son of Lewis L. and Matilda A. (Iverson) Ness.
Elvin spent his early years and received his education in a rural school in Brookings County, District #55. After receiving his education Elvin helped on the family farm in Brookings and Lincoln County, until moving to Brookings in 1966. In 1980, Elvin began receiving services from Advance, where he was supported for 31 years. Elvin was employed at Coast to Coast Warehouse for several years, a custodian at First National Bank, and employed at A Child’s Place.
Elvin is a member of the First Lutheran Church, was active in church activities, and was a member of the senior citizens. He enjoyed music, reading, painting, walking, and antique farm machinery. Elvin was very artistic as a young man.
He is survived by one brother, Laurelle (Drusilla) Ness, of Fort Collins, CO; and one sister, Cathy (Wilson) Bamesberger, of Sioux Falls, SD.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents.
