Life Legacy
David Hintz, 64, of Brookings, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Monday, June 25, 2012. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD. Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church from 12:30pm until the time of the service.
David Eugene Hintz was born on December 25, 1947 in Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Robert and Florence (Lenning) Hintz.
David graduated from Brookings High School. He was a cook and restaurant manager before he worked at 3M for 28 years. He enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard in 1966 and served until 1975. He and Linda Erichsen were married in 1970 and had four children together. David was united in marriage to Diane Kracke on May 29, 1997 in Brookings.
David enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and reading. He enjoyed spending time with, and texting, his family and friends. David was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce. He cherished coffee time and visiting with his friends. Between David and his family, friendly competitions watching football games were a common occurrence.
David is survived by his wife, Diane of Brookings, SD; three sons, Richard and his wife Jennifer of Sioux Falls, SD, Grant of Brookings, SD, Eric and his wife Tracy, of Houston, TX; two stepsons, Cody Heppler of Minot, ND, Jason and his wife Anna Heppler of Minot, ND; eight grandchildren, Alexis, Jaden, Taylor, Kalie, Kyra, Vencenza, Lian and Jian; father, Robert Hintz of Brookings, SD; two brothers, Marlin (Carol) and Daniel (Annie); three sisters, Marcene (Russell) King, Marvene (Don) Johnson, and Kim (Harley) Harms.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Jill; his mother, Florence; numerous aunts and uncles; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bud and Fran Kracke.
